Stream Chaos Controls Desktop 1.02.00 introduces a major update to the media playback system, along with new streamer controls and expanded Power-Up functionality.

Stream Chaos Controls v1.01.00

Stream Chaos Controls v1.01.00 expands Twitch event alerts with Bits/Cheer support and updates the Windows desktop application to display the new alert type. This release also includes Browser Source improvements for Chaos Spinner cleanup and screen-effect visibility in OBS.

Bits / Cheer Alerts

The Stream Chaos Controls desktop application now supports Bits/Cheer event alerts.

  • Displays the viewer who cheered.
  • Displays the actual number of Bits cheered.
  • Displays the viewer's Cheer message when provided.
  • Supports anonymous Cheers.
  • Uses the existing Stream Chaos Controls event-alert system.
  • Desktop alert type is displayed as BITS CHEER.

Twitch Integration

Bits / Cheer Event Support

Stream Chaos Controls now supports Twitch channel.cheer events as part of the event-alert system.

  • Bits/Cheer alerts can be enabled or disabled independently.
  • Alert duration, banner style, image, sound, and background can be customized in Studio > Alerts.
  • Bits/Cheer alerts respect the master Event Alerts setting.
  • The actual Cheer amount is displayed in the alert.
  • Cheer messages are included when provided.
  • Anonymous Cheers are supported.

Bits Redeems

Bits/Cheer alerts work alongside existing Monetization Bits Redeems.

When a Cheer qualifies for a configured Bits Redeem:

  1. The matching Bits Redeem is processed first.
  2. The Bits/Cheer alert is triggered afterward.

Bits Redeems and Bits/Cheer alerts remain independent features. Disabling Bits/Cheer alerts does not disable configured Bits Redeems.

OBS & Browser Sources

Chaos Spinner

Fixed an issue where the Chaos Spinner could remain visible indefinitely in the OBS Browser Source after a spin completed.

The spinner now follows a complete display lifecycle:

Spin -> Result -> Hide

Additional cleanup protection prevents stale spinner content from remaining on screen.

Screen Effects

Improved Browser Source rendering for several screen effects that could appear too faint when composited through OBS or other streaming software.

Improved Browser Source visibility for:

  • Snow Static
  • Color Shift
  • Invert Flash
  • VHS Scanlines

These adjustments apply specifically to Browser Source rendering. Desktop screen-effect rendering remains unchanged.

Compatibility

Desktop v1.01.00 is compatible with the current Stream Chaos Controls service and replaces v1.00.05 as the latest stable Windows desktop release.

Stream Chaos Controls v1.00.05 focuses on quality-of-life improvements, Creator Hub enhancements, Chaos Wheel upgrades, and infrastructure improvements to support future platform growth.

Desktop

Digitally Signed Desktop Application

The Stream Chaos Controls Windows desktop application is now digitally signed.

This provides a more trusted installation experience by reducing Windows SmartScreen warnings and making it easier for creators to verify that the application was published by Stream Chaos Controls.

Creator Hub

Chaos Wheel Chat Results

Chaos Wheel can now automatically announce spin results directly in Twitch chat.

  • Display the winning result after each spin.
  • Configurable per Chaos Wheel.
  • Can be enabled or disabled at any time by the streamer.

This gives communities another way to stay engaged while allowing creators to decide whether spin results should appear in chat.

Targeted Chaos Wheel Spins

Moderators and streamers can now grant a one-time Chaos Wheel spin to a specific viewer.

When enabled for a Chaos Wheel, use:

!spinfor <slug> @username

The streamer or moderator grants one one-time spin. The viewer redeems it using !spin <slug>. The grant must be redeemed before it expires.

The standard viewer command remains unchanged:

Creator Hub Improvements

Plan Usage Card Enhancements

The Plan Usage card has been expanded beyond displaying usage and limits.

In addition to showing your current plan utilization, it now serves as a quick reference to help creators locate where Stream Chaos Controls features are managed throughout the Creator Hub.

This makes navigating SCC easier, especially for newer creators learning where features are located.

StreamChaosControls Desktop 1.00.00 — prior 1.0 release

1.00.00 is the 1.0 public line: same Windows feature baseline as 0.09.18 (Connection UI, chat auto-hide, update flow), with a new 1.0 / 1.00.00 product version for release and update metadata alignment with the hosted site.

Streamer Dashboard (raid & shoutout alerts)

Under Setup > Alerts you can control clip behavior for each event type. Rules are enforced on the server and in OBS (and other clients that use the same alert payload). The Windows app only plays what the server sends: if no clip fields are in the event, you get a banner-only alert.

  • Enable clip — when off, no clip is loaded or attached; normal banner + sound.
  • Autoplay clip — when on, the browser or desktop app tries to start playback automatically. When off, the clip can still appear; playback may need a click or Twitch interaction depending on the client. The server still fetches and attaches a clip whenever Enable clip is on (preferring an SCC-hosted MP4 when available, with embed fallback).

The 0.09.00 through 0.09.18 desktop releases were incremental steps toward this 1.0 line. The hosted site and APIs (Dashboard, viewer experience, help, this page, and related services) keep evolving alongside the app.

StreamChaosControls Desktop 0.09.18 — last release on the 0.09 line

0.09.18 was the final 0.09.x build before 1.00.00. It removed the unused desktop-side tier selection from the Connection section, kept tier enforcement server-side, and added chat content auto-hide when the chat frame is disabled.

What is new in 0.09.18

  • Connection UI: Removed the Tier dropdown from desktop connection settings to prevent local tier spoofing controls and keep tier authority server-side.
  • Chat overlay: When Chat Frame is disabled, chat text remains visible, then auto-hides after 3 minutes of no new messages.
  • Auto-hide reset: Each new chat message shows content immediately and resets the 3-minute idle timer.
  • No module impact: Auto-hide only affects chat message content visibility (no layout shift), not viewer count, live viewers, alerts, or other overlays.

StreamChaosControls Desktop 0.09.17 — 0.09 line (0.09.00 through 0.09.17)

0.09.17 was the previous shipping build on the 0.09 Windows line. The run from 0.09.00 to 0.09.17 is documented here as one series: patch releases on top of prior 0.08.x work, focused on keeping the desktop app stable and aligned with the hosted site, stream alerts, and Twitch-driven features as both the API and Streamer Dashboard evolved.

What the 0.09.00-0.09.17 series covers

  • 0.09 line (end state 0.09.17): Ongoing updates across desktop runtime, update checks, and compatibility with the current Streamer Dashboard and public APIs, rolled out as incremental 0.09.x builds.
  • Alerts, overlays, and pass-through windows: Iterative fixes and tuning to event alerts, media overlays, and chat/viewer/metrics pass-through style frames for OBS, including clip playback and embed behavior where alerts touch Twitch content.
  • Stability and quality: Bug fixes, regression repairs, and small UX improvements shipped throughout 0.09.00-0.09.17.

0.09.00 opened the 0.09 line after the 0.08.05 milestone. Intermediate 0.08.x builds after 0.08.05 may have shipped in between; those are not broken out on this page. The numbered sequence 0.09.00 - 0.09.17 is the full 0.09 train summarized above.

StreamChaosControls Desktop 0.08.05

0.08.05 is a prior milestone on the 0.08 line. It added on-stream Viewer count and Live viewers (who is chatting) as pass-through desktop frames, similar in spirit to chat and alerts frames, so you can place them in OBS with the same frame guide and background options. Raid and shoutout video clips in alerts favor direct playback when possible, with a clear fallback to Twitch embed behavior if needed.

What is in this build

  • Viewer count: Live Twitch viewer count in a pass-through frame (frame guide and transparent background options).
  • Live viewers: A live list of chatters in a pass-through frame (same framing options).
  • Raid and shoutout clips: Smoother clip playback in alerts, with a sensible fallback when a clip cannot be played as plain video.

Intermediate releases (0.05.08 through 0.08.04)

Multiple Windows builds shipped between the chat-overlay milestone 0.05.07 and 0.08.05 (for example 0.06.x, 0.07.x, and early 0.08.x). They included ongoing improvements to chat, alerts, integrations with the web dashboard, and desktop runtime behavior. StreamChaosControls Desktop 0.05.07 — Windows chat overlay

0.05.07 focused on the in-app chat overlay on Windows: Twitch emotes from any chatter are resolved more reliably, third-party emote coverage (BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ, 7TV) is broader, and messages with Bits still line up text and emotes correctly. It extends the 0.04.03 chat work (EventSub / WebSocket path with IRC path when needed, plus required Twitch scopes for chat).

Twitch emotes in the overlay

  • Native Twitch emotes use Twitch emote positions in each message, so they line up with text, including messages with Bits.
  • BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ, and 7TV emotes are filled from merged caches (global and channel where available). 7TV global is included so many common third-party codes appear that did not before.
  • Emotes that exist only in another channel's third-party set may still show as plain text unless they also appear in global or your channel sets. That is normal for how chat data is delivered.

Twitch emotes (subscriber, other channels, global) — full detail

  • Twitch does not identify emotes by name alone in chat. IRC PRIVMSG includes an emotes tag with emote id + character ranges in the message. The overlay parses that tag and loads images from Twitch's CDN (static-cdn.jtvnw.net/emoticons/v2/...), so emotes missing from a static name-to-URL map still show correctly.
  • Messages with Bits show a [N bits] prefix in the overlay; emote ranges are offset so images line up with text.
  • Between native Twitch emote spans, the overlay resolves BetterTTV, FrankerFaceZ, and 7TV by word against merged caches.

Third-party emotes (BTTV / 7TV) — what to expect

  • Codes that exist only in another channel's BTTV/7TV set may still appear as plain text unless they appear in global sets or your channel cache.
  • 7TV global emotes are merged from 7TV global set endpoints, which fixes many common codes that were missing before.

Diagnostics (desktop)

  • chatPayload.log — one line per parsed ChatMessagePayload after IRC/EventSub handling.
  • twitchIrcRaw.log — raw inbound IRC lines (PRIVMSG, PING, notices); outbound oauth credentials are not logged.

Build and deploy (self-hosted / operators)

  • Publish with apps/desktop-csharp/StreamChaosDesktop/publish-and-zip.ps1.
  • Upload installer and this page to server paths configured in your .env values for desktop downloads.

Intermediate releases (0.04.04 through 0.05.06)

Several Windows builds shipped after 0.04.03 and before 0.05.07. They advanced in-app chat overlay behavior, emote handling, and related desktop updates step by step. Per-version write-ups for every patch in that range were not all kept on this page.

StreamChaosControls Desktop 0.04.03 — Chat connection foundation

0.04.03 established the modern chat path in the Windows app: Twitch real-time chat where possible (EventSub/WebSocket style delivery), with an IRC fallback when that path is not suitable, plus OAuth scopes required for chat read. That work set up the emote, Bits, and layout improvements that landed in 0.05.07.

StreamChaosControls Version 0.03.03

Version 0.03.03 improved follow and raid alerts, added optional raid clips from the raider's channel, dedicated per-streamer viewer URLs, and fixed audio/embed behavior for the desktop app and stream alerts used in OBS from Help (Setup > Alerts).

Desktop application changes

  • Follow and raid alerts are queued so rapid events do not stomp each other.
  • Raid clips can play inside the follow/raid alert window with safe fallback handling.
  • Twitch clip embed handling improved for reliability of playback and audio where allowed.

StreamChaosControls Version 0.03.02 — hotfix

0.03.02 is a targeted hotfix for overlay media and chat command behavior: .webm overlay audio, clearer shoutout command detection, and the new !clip command.

Desktop

  • Fixed .webm overlay playback so audio matches other overlay types.

Platform and chat

  • Fixed shoutout command parsing so shoutouts trigger only on exact !so.
  • Messages starting with plain so no longer trigger shoutout behavior.

StreamChaosControls Version 0.03.01

Version 0.03.01 introduced improvements to both desktop and backend systems focused on overlay handling, movement controls, customization options, and safeguards for stable viewer interactions.

  • Added an overlay queue system in the desktop application.
  • Improved movement controls so directional inputs can stack correctly (e.g., W+D strafing) while opposite directions do not run simultaneously.
